Nae Time to Blog

Instead, I’ll just put photos up for a bit…

Stripping in the Fringe

August 21, 2008

On our travels we found two collections of abandoned human attire.

I can only assume that people either had catastrophic soiling incidents, or stripped down as part of the fringe festival. WithWood is hoping for a disgusting combination of the two.

Did anybody see these people disrobe in Leith or on bus?

As well as bringing the excitement of nudity and the fear of no dancing, the fringe will also provide some laughter. Last year I saw two of my childhood comic heroes (Lee and Herring) and had intentions of repeating this, sadly something went terribly wrong with the purchase of the Stewart Lee ticket, I didn’t seem to go through with the order online.

I stood in the box office for about 30 minutes trying to collect the tickets I hadn’t bought, it was fun, almost.

Well, at least I have tickets for Richard Herring, which in my opinion was the superior show last year, I’ll be sure to let you know if it good. Although there aren’t many more performances left.

So what else is on the cards WithWood?

DEADMAU5 @ Liquid Rooms

I knew I was fated to see this DJ when I saw a dead mouse swimming in the Waters of Leith, this will be one special weekend.

Now I’m off to find Edinburgh’s best Mexican!

Christmas is Around Every Corner

January 9, 2008

My second Christmas in Edinburgh wasn’t in Edinburgh, which resulted in a highly un-festive flat after New Year. Luckily Christmas is on every street corner and in every bin at this time of year, so I get to see plenty of trees on my way to work.

Even of the Waters of Leith had a Christmas tree.

You will also notice that even on such a cold day there was no snow in sight, the sun does indeed always shine on Leith!

I don’t know why people throw out perfectly good trees so early! Last year we kept our tree alive until July, the decorations were removed (from the tree, not the ceiling) and we considered it part of the family. We didn’t name it though, just in case we became too attached.

The fun of having a tree last year made me feel a bit sad about not having one this year, but sadness does not last too long in my new flat.

You see one of the housemates took it upon himself to recycle a street tree, he brought it up to the flat after popping out for shopping on a Sunday morning. It didn’t take long for us all to ‘get festive’ and decorate it with anything we could find.

A piece of modern art, both Dada and Surrealist, Duchamp would be proud, Emin would be thirsty.

Merry WithWoodmas.

Bag it Up!

December 19, 2007

Poo is one of the most popular reasons the public find my site, so I thought I would give you a bit more of an insight.

Today I strolled down the wintry waters of Leith – a fairly pleasant experience might I add.

You see old jack frost has the ability of freezing dog toffee thus reducing the possibility of any shoe embarrassment in the office.

“What’s that on your shoe???”

“Just mud, it’s really muddy out there. NO! Don’t come any closer!!!”

With these worries to the back of my mind I can concentrate on looking at things whilst walking.

Walls.

Sky.

River.

Rubbish.

Vagabonds.

Winter has a calming effect WithWood, but wait, what’s this?

A bag of toffees thrown on the floor. Somebody went to the effort of bagging up the dog disaster and putting back on the floor, I’m not sure – but this might be even worse.

It’ll probably take ages to freeze in a bag and can also double up as a missile for the youth of today.

It seems to be a common problem. Don’t do it!!! I am always watching you, I will name and shame you eventually.

Lost Dog!

December 19, 2007

I love signs! Not of the biblical sense, but the old fashioned handwritten paper ones in windows.

“Young Entire Male Dog”

Who would admit to finding part of a dog?

I handed some keys and a phone in once, but I couldn’t imagine handing in half a dog, it’s just not right.

But should anybody be looking for this entire brindle and white staffie-cross , I suggest visiting the animal themed shop on Leith Walk.
