Leith Gents

Jimmy L has taken an iconic image and interfered with it.

Converting something we all know and love into something only some of us know and love. A quintessentially English image has been manipulated into a emblematically Scottish one – thus transforming the gents into a haven for the Kilted.

A genuine dichotomy of sorts that is only enhanced by the vibrant use of colour.

“Hilarious, thought provoking, sick, intense, controversial and compelling” Damien Rice

Jimmy L likes to wear his kilt real low, was green the right choice? good use of big words

  2. Gary Wood Says:

I think the artist was trying to echo the fact that Scotland is a very green country.

Also, I believe the Kilts in Leith are often worn lower than the rest of Edinburgh.

Do you know why that is Gary Wood?

  4. Gary Wood Says:

    It’s a Ghetto thang

  5. williamdeed Says:

But people who wear kilts don’t wear knickers. Surely if the Leith kids are wearing them ghetto low, then everyone’s going to see their winkle.

  6. Gary Wood Says:

    The sporran hides their winkle.

And the bumbagpipe hides their bum.

  7. commenter Says:

I think the artist is trying to say “Jimmy L is a tranny”

  8. Gary Wood Says:

This is why art is so exciting, everybody has a different point of view.

Commenter has raised a completely differently perspective, one which I had overlooked.

Transylvania’s national dress is very similar to that of Scotland, but of a green colour and worn slightly below the hips.

    Any other interpretations?

Have you noticed how muscly his arms are?

  10. Gary Wood Says:

I have, they are as wide as a baby.
